Mike Waggoner
Mike Waggoner

Guitar, Vocals, Band Leader

Mike’s first love is Rockabilly. As such, Memphis Trax completes a music circle for him; back to where he started if you will.

He’s done the pop of the 60’s, the rock of the 70’s and many other genres that we all know and love. But now it’s back to Rockabilly and this tribute to the legends who have created it and those who have kept it alive and vibrant throughout the years.

Mike Waggoner & The Bops

Stephen Kenet
Steve "Beaver" Carlisle

Bass Guitar, Vocals

Steve has performed with many bands including The Caretakers and Straight Up, which became the Midwest’s largest ballroom draw and has won countless Minnesota Ballroom Associations awards. This band also backed up Styx, REO, Redbone and The Runaways just to name a few.

After moving to California for awhile, he performed with the group, Boy Wonder, and toured Japan.

Later he joined The Seth Band and after touring the southwestern United States, Steve returned to the Twin Cities where he performed with Bobby Vees' band The Ricochettes. This was a wonderful opportunity for him because he had a chance to play the music he listened to as a teen and perform with artists he had revered as a child. The Ricochettes not only backed up Bobby Vee but also toured Great Britain, Canada, Spain, and the USA with a number of other performance groups including Del Shannon, Tommy Roe, Johnny Tillotson, The Coasters, The Drifters, Sam Moore, Bo Diddely, Frankie Ford, Buddy Knox, Lou Christie, Leslie Gore, The Shirelles, The Marvelettes, The Chiffons, The Dixie Cups, and Freddie Cannon.

After his departure from Ricochettes, Steve has played with Tornado Rex, Dancer, Mozo Boji, The Surf Dogs, Firewatch, and also doing an occasional national gig with some the Oldies acts mentioned earlier.

Shaun Waggoner
Shaun Waggoner

Drums, Percussion

Shaun’s professional career started at age 13, playing with his Father Mike. It’s unbelievable that 28 years have passed since the two have worked together regularly! He too is happy to see his musical career come full circle with a chance to play with his Dad again.

While primarily playing Rock music over the years he has always enjoyed blues and rockabilly. "After all, it’s truly the foundation that rock and roll is built on."

During a 4-year stop in California Shaun played with a star-studded house band at the famous "Woody’s Roadhouse." Lead by Guitarist/Singer Mark Eaton (who now calls Austin Texas home) and Bass player Bill Church (original member of Montrose) they enjoyed a parade of musicians who would just drop in to sing or play a few with the band.

Shaun now lives in Duluth where he has played most recently with the popular Blues Band "Fog City VooDoo."
